The Brutus Dining Chair by 101 Copenhagen is a sculptural dining chair inspired by the Brutalist architecture of the mid-20th century. Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl, it combines strong, architectural lines with a generous, curved backrest and armrest, resulting in a chair that is both bold and surprisingly comfortable.

The collection comes in two material families:
– Fiber concrete in the colours Coffee and Bone White, cast in lightweight fibre concrete and hand-painted to create a tactile, textured surface with subtle variations on every chair.
– Solid oak in Natural Oak and Coffee Black Oak, crafted from FSC-certified American Red Oak with a refined, natural finish that highlights the grain and warmth of the wood.

The open, embracing armrest gives good support, while the compact footprint makes Brutus ideal around a dining table, in a kitchen, or as an accent chair in a reading corner. Material

Fiber concrete – Coffee & Bone White
The Coffee and Bone White versions are made from lightweight fibre concrete. Each chair is cast and then hand-painted twice by brush, creating a layered, tactile surface with small nuances and imperfections that make every piece unique. The surface is sealed for durability, but we recommend avoiding sharp objects, aggressive cleaners and prolonged exposure to high humidity or extreme temperatures. These chairs are not frost-proof and should only be used indoors.

Solid oak – Natural Oak & Coffee Black Oak
The oak versions are crafted from FSC-certified American Red Oak, with a finish that lets the natural grain remain visible. Natural Oak offers a light, warm tone; Coffee Black Oak adds depth and a darker, more dramatic expression while still showing the wood structure. For daily care, use a moist cloth and avoid household cleaners containing acid or harsh chemicals, so the finish can age beautifully over time.

The Brutus Dining Chair is ordered specially for you from 101 Copenhagen’s European stock. When in stock, delivery within the Netherlands is usually around 5–10 working days after your order. For Belgium, Germany and the rest of the EU, timing is similar.
