The Wabi Vase, Medio – Birch by 101 Copenhagen is a sculptural ceramic vase inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi – finding beauty in irregular, imperfect forms. Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl, the vase has a soft, organic silhouette with gently uneven contours, giving it a calm, natural presence. 

At Numa Home, we see Wabi Medio as the versatile size in the collection: large enough to make a statement on a dining table, sideboard or console, yet compact enough for everyday spaces in Dutch and Turkish homes. The Birch colour – a warm, off-white tone – adds a subtle, earthy character that combines beautifully with wood, stone and neutral textiles. 

Each vase is made from ceramic and hand-glazed, creating a matte surface with gentle variations in tone and texture. No two pieces are exactly the same. The inside is finished with a waterproof lacquer, so Wabi is 100% waterproof and suitable for fresh flowers as well as branches or dried arrangements. 

The Wabi collection includes several sizes; Medio sits between Wabi Mini and Wabi Big – perfect when you want a strong sculptural piece without going to a full floor vase.

Material

Ceramic, hand-glazed. Each Wabi vase is crafted from ceramic and hand-glazed to create a unique matte surface. Small differences in colour and surface structure are part of the design and give the vase its organic Wabi-Sabi character.
