The Katachi Vase, Big by 101 Copenhagen is a sculptural vase that plays with the Japanese idea of katachi – “shape” – focusing on how form, light and shadow interact. The softly faceted surface creates small shadow lines that emphasise the organic silhouette, while the generous volume makes it a strong statement piece in any interior.

The Big size is perfect on a console, dining table or even on the floor next to a low bench. At Numa Home, we love using Katachi in calm, natural interiors in the Netherlands and Turkey – either as a single focal point or combined with the smaller Katachi sizes for a layered composition.

Two material expressions
– High Glaze Birch: a ceramic version with a high-gloss glaze. The surface reflects its surroundings like a soft mirror, enhancing the play between light and texture. The glossy finish contrasts beautifully with the raw, irregular shape, giving a refined yet sculptural look.
– Clear & Smoked Forest: mouth-blown glass versions with an irregular surface that gently bends and refracts light. Clear feels airy and transparent; Smoked Forest adds a deep, atmospheric tone. Both create shifting reflections and soft shadows throughout the day.

All Katachi vases are designed to work with flowers, branches or simply as standalone objects. The Big size is fully waterproof, so you can comfortably use it for fresh flowers and water as well as for dried arrangements.

The High Glaze Birch version is made from ceramic with a high-gloss glaze. The contrast between the fluid, mirror-like glaze and the organic shape gives a refined sculptural expression. The piece is waterproof, so it can be used for fresh flowers.

Clear & Smoked Forest – mouth-blown glass
The Clear and Smoked Forest versions are made from mouth-blown glass. Each vase has an irregular surface that subtly distorts and refracts light, casting shifting reflections and soft shadows through the day. Clear feels light and transparent, while Smoked Forest offers a deeper, more atmospheric tone. Like the ceramic version, these vases are 100% waterproof and suitable for fresh flowers and water.
