SWITCH | MATA Surface Mounted

The MATA Surface Mounted Switch brings the same sculptural language of MATA to a compact object that sits on the wall rather than being fully recessed. Designed by STUDIO STRAF and crafted by Sumum, it reads like a small architectural volume: a pure block that carries the characteristic bullet-shaped push buttons on its front.

Just like the recessed version, MATA was conceived as a universal line of plastered switches, grown from respect for tradition and craftsmanship. It can be painted, coated or finished to harmonise with your wall colour, or deliberately left as a contrasting object to emphasise its presence.

The surface-mounted body allows MATA to be installed over existing wall finishes or boxes, making it a strong option for renovation projects or where full recessed integration is not possible. The design still follows refined geometry and sacred proportions, so the volume feels calm, balanced and timeless.

Production & lead times

Sumum products are made to order in Belgium. Delivery happens in two stages:

First delivery – internal mechanisms
– Lead time: ≈ 4–6 weeks
– The electrician can already mount and wire these in the wall or panel.
– As soon as they are installed, the installation is fully functional.

Second delivery – brass cover plates
– Lead time: ≈ 8–12 weeks
– The solid brass plates are clicked onto the mechanisms on site once all finishing works are done.

Two-stage delivery
This two-stage approach keeps the project moving: first the technical installation, later the finished brass plates once painting and wall finishes are complete.

Made-to-order & order changes
Every Sumum piece is custom-built in your selected configuration and finish.

Once the order is confirmed, specifications and quantities cannot be modified or cancelled.

Netherlands
Numa Home is the official distributor of Sumum in the Netherlands.

Orders are shipped from Belgium to your address or project site. Once production phases are completed, shipping within the Netherlands usually takes a few working days.

Turkey
Numa Home is also the official distributor of Sumum in Turkey.

We organise transport from Belgium to Turkey. Transit time is typically around 7–10 working days after dispatch, depending on destination and shipment size. Exact costs and timings are calculated per order.

For orders outside the Netherlands and Turkey, please contact Sumum directly to discuss availability, local partners and shipping options.

– Action: momentary push-button (returns after press).
– Contact type: potential-free low-voltage contact.
– Works by sending control signals to relays, dimmers or smart controllers – not by directly switching 230 V.

System integration
– Designed to integrate with KNX, QBUS and similar central/smart systems via their input modules.
– Suitable for DALI / DALI-2 via push-button couplers (project dependent).
– Functions in both new builds and renovations, especially when you prefer a surface-mounted solution over full recessed.

– Installed over standard wall boxes or directly on solid walls, using the dedicated mounting kit.
