The Tribal Vase, Medio by 101 Copenhagen is the mid-sized piece in the Tribal family – a sculptural ceramic vase that brings character without taking over the space. Designed by Kristian Sofus Hansen & Tommy Hyldahl, the vase is inspired by the strong lines of tribal masks, with a graphic “face” and a slim opening at the top.

At Numa Home, we love Tribal Medio for shelves, sideboards and smaller tables. You can place a single branch, dried flowers or a few fresh stems in the narrow neck, or simply let it stand as an art object on its own. The collection comes in calm, earthy tones that sit beautifully next to natural stone, wood and textiles – perfect for modern interiors in the Netherlands and Turkey.

Each vase is hand-glazed, so colour and texture will vary slightly from piece to piece – this is intentional and gives the vase its organic, Wabi-Sabi character. The vase is made of ceramic and not completely waterproof; a clear bag for fresh flowers is recommended.

Tribal Medio sits between the Tribal Vase, Big and the Tribal Vase, Mini – ideal when you want a sculptural piece with a lighter, more compact footprint.

Material

Ceramic, hand-glazed. Each vase is made from fine clay, cast in a mould and burned in the kiln. Afterwards, the surface is hand-painted several times to create a soft, brushed texture in natural, faded earth tones. Because the glaze is applied by hand, colour and structure will vary slightly from piece to piece – this gives the Tribal collection its organic, Wabi-Sabi look. The vase is not fully waterproof; for fresh flowers, we recommend using the included inner bag or a separate glass insert.
