Core Collection: 1 Button
Finishes: Brushed Brass
Description

The Pin Switch by Sumum is a tiny, architectural pushbutton that turns your wall into a calm, graphic surface punctuated by a simple dot of brass. With a diameter of only 3 mm, the PIN is inspired by the discreet reset buttons of 1980s appliances – a miniature detail with a surprisingly strong presence.

Despite its size, the Pin switch feels solid and precise. Each button is mounted on Sumum’s 4 mm thick brass plates, milled from solid metal and hand-finished in a curated palette of brass and bronze tones, deep canon de fusil and classic black or white.

At Numa Home, we curate the Pin Switch for projects where you want the wall to stay visually quiet, yet every detail is carefully considered – from Rotterdam canal houses and Dutch new builds to apartments and villas in Turkey, boutique hotels and galleries. We help you combine Pin with matching Sumum outlets, frames and lighting so everything shares the same finish and line.

Shipping Information

Production & lead times

Sumum products are made to order in Belgium. Delivery happens in two stages:

First delivery – internal mechanisms
– Lead time: ≈ 4–6 weeks
– The electrician can already mount and wire these in the wall or panel.
– As soon as they are installed, the installation is fully functional.

Second delivery – brass cover plates
– Lead time: ≈ 8–12 weeks
– The solid brass plates are clicked onto the mechanisms on site once all finishing works are done.

Two-stage delivery
This two-stage approach keeps the project moving: first the technical installation, later the finished brass plates once painting and wall finishes are complete.

Made-to-order & order changes
Every Sumum piece is custom-built in your selected configuration and finish.

Once the order is confirmed, specifications and quantities cannot be modified or cancelled.

Technical Details

Electrical concept
– Action: momentary push-button – the Pin springs back after every press.
– Contact: potential-free (dry) contact, rated approx. 24–250 V depending on the chosen module behind.
– Ideal for: smart systems, central relays, DALI dimming and other control modules where the intelligence is in the panel, not in the switch itself.

Bus systems – KNX & QBUS
– For QBUS projects, Sumum push-buttons can be mounted on a dedicated Qbus PCB that sits directly behind the brass plate. This board connects to the Qbus bus and supports 1–4 buttons, optional temperature sensor and tiny feedback LEDs per button. A second “page” lets one 4-button switch operate up to 8 outputs, which is handy for scenes.
– For KNX, the Pin works as a potential-free switch contact: you simply connect it to a binary input or push-button interface. The KNX module translates each press into KNX telegrams (on/off, dim, scenes, blinds, etc.).

DALI / DALI-2 lighting control
– The Pin can also be wired to a DALI push-button coupler / switch interface. These compact modules sit either in the wall box or in a junction box and convert each button press into a DALI command for switching, dimming or calling scenes.
– This is a clean solution when you use DALI drivers for most lighting but don’t want plastic DALI wall plates.

Retrofit / no-server smart solutions
– In existing houses where you keep the standard Dutch wiring, the Pin can work with:
– In-wall smart relays or dimmers that accept a momentary input (mounted behind the switch or in the ceiling).
– Bluetooth-mesh modules placed in the ceiling rose or panel, again using the Pin as a low-voltage input.
– Some of these modules support “no neutral” situations, which is useful in older housing where only phase returns are available at the switch.

Central relay / conventional panels
– For classic panels, the Pin can drive DIN-rail relays or universal dimmers in the distribution board: the wires from each Pin simply land on the coil or input of the module instead of switching the lamp directly. This gives you centralised control and leaves the walls clean.

Mechanical / mounting
– Button diameter: 3 mm (Pin).
– Plate thickness: 4 mm solid brass, hand-finished.
– Designed for standard European flush-mount boxes (round boxes with 60 mm screw spacing). A deeper box (≥ 45 mm) is recommended if you place extra modules behind the switch.
– Single plates support 1–5 buttons, and double plates up to 10 buttons in total.
